New Rating System

In order to give you a better understanding and more specific review, I've decided to switch from giving ratings out of 5, to ratings out of 10. This is how the new grading scale will work:

10: Perfect. Not a single complaint.
9: Excellent but not Perfect.
8: Very good.
7: Pretty good.
6: Decent.
5: Could have been better.
4: Relatively bad.
3: Pretty bad.
2: Terrible.
1: Don't bother.

Along with the new rating system, there will also be a new set of tags on the menu. I'd like to have a tag for perfect ratings and maybe 9 and 8 too.

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro Chan (review)

Title: Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro Chan
Director: Tsutomu Mizushima
Studio: Hal Film Maker
Episodes: 8

Plot:
Dokuro-chan is an angel sent to assassinate Sakura, a junior high student. She is sent from the future to assasinate him because he is responsible for turning the world into a "pedophile's world". In the future, he has stopped girls from aging past 12 which has angered god. Instead of killing Sakura, Dokuro befriends him and lives with him. Sakura does however, kill him multiple times an episode only to bring him back to life with a special chant. Dokuro is known for her immature attitude and her gigantic spiked club.

In the story, Sakura is trying to win over his friend, Shizuki. They have had their chances to date but Dokuro always seems to screw it up. There is also another angel named Sabato who is sent to assassinate Sakura.

Review:
This anime is hilarious. One of the funniest stories that I've experienced anywhere. Theres a perfect mix between cute girls, perverted jokes, and tons of violence. I definitely don't recommend this to anybody younger than 15. The art is very good, the story doesn't get too repetitive, the jokes are funny, everything is right with this anime. The ending left a lot of unanswered questions so if I could change anything about this anime, I would have given it better closure.

Rating:
8/10. Very good pass time. With only 8 episodes (4 sets of 2) and a running time of around 15 min per episode, it's a good anime, but a short one. If you're looking for a good laugh and have a few hours to spare, I definitely recommend this.... if you're 15+ of course.

Notes:
There has been an 11 volume manga series and video game with the same title.

Inuyasha (review)

Title: Inuyasha

Director: Masashi Ikeda and Yasuano Aoki
Studio: Sunrise
Episodes: 167 (completed)

Plot:
Inuyasha starts off with the main character, Inuyasha, stealing the Jewel of Four Souls. The Jewel of Four Souls gives the owner enormous power. Inuyasha, being the half-demon he is, attempts to steal this jewel to become a full fledged demon like his older brother and father. Inuyasha gets his human half from his mother. Both Inuyasha's mother and father are deceased. His brother is still alive and plays an important part of the story.

While Inuyasha attempts to steal the sacred jewel shard, Kikyo, a village priestess, puts Inuyasha to sleep with one of her enchanted arrows. Inuyasha and Kikyo happen to be in love but Kikyo takes her job over her love and binds Inuyasha to a tree.

Years later, in modern Japan, a girl named Kagome is walking to school when she stops into a well house near her family's shrine. She falls through and the well teleports her to the past, where Inuyasha is. After exploring the are that would be her family's shrine in the future, she comes across Inuyasha still bound to a tree.

Kagome, Inuyasha, and a few other cast of characters band together to hunt for the jewel of the four souls. On there way they encounter thousands of demons. They also run into the antagonist of the story, Naraku.

Review:
Inuyasha is a completed but not completed anime. The episodes are no longer in production but the story really doesn't have an ending. The last episode literally ends with a long narrative by Inuyasha explaining how they continue their journey to find Naraku and the Jewel of Four Souls... then the end. There is a petition to continue the production and the finish of Inuyasha here.

The art, for being an outdated anime (starting in 2000), is pretty sub-par. The anime looks a little old. It's comparable to anime such as Sailor Moon. If art isn't a big factor for you then ignore this paragraph. It's not as bad as say... Speed Racer, but it's definitely not showy.

The story is not very original. I suppose it might have been more original in 1996 when the manga was released but as of now, it's nothing new. Boy is in love with two girls, tries to get stronger, fights a bad guy who wants to achieve immortality, and fights a few baddies on the way.

Along with the unoriginal story, it is very repetitive too. Ever episode is literally the same thing. Inuyasha fights a few demons, throws a fit, discovers his hidden love for Kagome a little more, and then finds another jewel shard. Very disappointing.

Rating: 7/10
You may be surprised at the high rating for the pretty bad review but Inuyasha does have some funny episodes that stand out from the others. I truly wish that this anime would be continued and would change its direction. The anime was a topper on my favorite list but after 30 some episodes I couldn't stand to watch it anymore.

Notes:
Inuyasha is on Adult Swim nearly every morning at 5:30 a.m. There are currently 56 manga volumes, 4 movies, and a whopping 8 video games!

If you like Inuyasha and want the series continued, I seriously suggest signing the online petition at http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/inuyasha.html.
